Global warming is a big problem in the world. There is an urgent need to develop low-carbon energy technology. With regard to solar energy, research is being carried out all over the world to make efficient use of the energy that infinitely pours down from space to the earth.
If a device that converts solar energy into electrical energy can be produced cheaply by screen printing, it may be widely used around the world and help prevent global warming. In fact, this is no dream. Development is already underway at many universities and companies, and mass production is said to be imminent.
It is a next-generation solar cell called a "dye-sensitized solar cell." This solar cell generates electricity using photocatalysts such as titanium oxide and zinc oxide and pigments. The feature of this battery is that almost all processes can be done by printing. We believe that the screen printing method, which "can print anything except water and air," is the most suitable printing method for manufacturing dye-sensitized solar cells among various printing methods.
"Can it really be printed?" We wondered, so we actually made it using our printing machine. The photo shows the solar cell we made, and the figure is a flow chart of the manufacturing process. The result was... the motor kept spinning at the exhibition hall for 3 days!
