Screen Printing Column (1)

~Recommendation for hand printing~

Customers who are new to screen printing often ask, "How should I set the printing conditions?" I will explain the general conditions, but they are not immediately understandable.

Therefore, in order to easily understand the important conditions for screen printing, such as "printing pressure", "printing speed", and "attack angle", we recommend that you first print by hand.

Set the plate and work on the printing machine, hold the squeegee firmly with both hands, and try printing.
First, try printing with your hands on and off.Next, try printing by pulling the squeegee faster or slower. Next, try printing with the squeegee upright or laid down. What happened to the print status? Perhaps the printed film thickness has become thicker or thinner. This is,

Hand power → "printing pressure"
The speed at which the squeegee is pulled → "printing speed"
How to stand the squeegee → "Attack angle"

We tested the important conditions for screen printing. And I was able to experience how these conditions affect printing.

However, hand printing requires a lot of skill to repeat printing under the same conditions, and there are individual differences. The automatic printing machine is designed to be able to print stably for a long period of time without any difference regardless of who prints it. By grasping the rough conditions by hand printing and setting the conditions with an automatic printing machine, you can quickly set stable printing with little variation. In addition, it becomes possible to predict how the printing will change when the printing conditions are changed.

“Screen printing starts from hand printing.”
