~Screen printing and thread~

A mesh called "sa" is used for the screen used for screen printing. In the old days, "silk thread" was used to knit this net, so screen printing is sometimes called "silk screen".

Nowadays, instead of silk, stainless steel, polyester, nylon, etc. are used. It seems that only the name "silk" remains. However, rather than calling it a "stainless steel screen" or "polyester screen", "silk" may be more luxurious.

This "thread" plays an important role in determining the screen printing conditions. There is a screen door as a net that is familiar in general households. Install it on the window to prevent insects from entering the room in the summer. Insects larger than the mesh cannot pass through the screen door, and only a refreshing breeze enters the room. In order to prevent small insects from entering, you may choose a screen door with a fine mesh. This is because the mesh is filtering the air.

The same thing is happening with screen-printed "sha". In screen printing, the amount of ink passing through is controlled by the gauze mesh to determine the ink discharge amount and print film thickness. There are many types of mesh with different materials, thicknesses, and weaving methods. By selecting this, you can easily and accurately control the ink.

The reason why screen printing can control ink more easily than other printing methods or coaters is due to the power of "thread".
